A professional investment
advisor, author and lecturer, Gerald Appel is a recognized expert in the field
of technical market analysis. He is the inventor of MACD, the Moving
Average Convergence/Divergence indicator that is used for charting by investors and money
managers alike, on major financial websites and in technical analysis software packages.
Over the years Mr. Appel
has written numerous articles for publications such as Smart Money, Money
Magazine, Barron's, and Stocks and Commodities, and has also
published ten books on investment and market timing. Two of his books have been
designated the "Investment Book of the Year," by The Stock Trader's Almanac.
He has been cited by numerous publications, including The Wall Street
Journal, The New York Times, Futures Magazine, Forbes, The Commodity
Trader's Consumer Report, Timer Digest, and The Hulbert Financial Digest.
Mr. Appel has appeared on Wall $treet Week With Louis Rukeyser and is

In 1973, Gerald Appel founded Signalert,
a registered investment advisory company which handles a half-billion dollars of
client assets. He has been managing discretionary client
accounts for more than thirty years. His investment style focuses on protecting
assets and managing risk. Portfolios are structured to meet the needs of
individual investors. He is an active trader in stocks, options, ETF's,
mutual funds and other securities. His background as a practicing
psychotherapist for many years enables him to care for clients with patience and
concern.
Along with his son Dr. Marvin
Appel, Gerald Appel is the editor of Systems & Forecasts, a newsletter
he founded in 1973 that is read by money managers, analysts, and private
investors around the world. This semi-monthly publication has been recognized on
the Forbes Honor Roll.
He
holds degrees from Brooklyn College and NYU Graduate School of Social Service.
