Gerald Appel's newest book, published by Prentice-Hall, is Opportunity Investing.  As noted in its subtitle, it provides Gerald Appel's recommendations on how to profit when the stock market either advances or drops, and what moves to make when inflation rises and when prices (except for oil!) fall.  The book integrates both technical and fundamental analysis techniques, giving specific examples of strategies to use mutual funds, exchange traded funds and real estate investment trusts to diversify and strengthen an investment portfolio.
